Teaching Plans Consumer Redress

Key Objectives

Students should have a general understanding of:

  • When complaint is an appropriate course of actionhow to follow a complaints procedureother available means of obtaining satisfactory redress
  • the procedure for taking a Small Claims action


Possible Teaching Activities

Discuss and debate specific theoretical justified and unjustified complaints.

Consider other agencies and professional bodies that may be able to assist with consumer complaints

Discuss and consider the different means of pursuing a complaint to a satisfactory conclusion.

As the students to progress a fictional complaint using downloadable forms, to conclusion in the County Court.

Learning Objectives

Students will recognise basic justified/unjustified complaints.

Students will understand the importance of record keeping and following procedures.

Students will recognise that several courses of action are available that can result in redress.

Students will understand the Small Claims procedure in County Court.

Students will be able to confidently make justified complaints to facilitate satisfactory redress
