East of England Trading Standards Authorities (EETSA) is
a partnership representing the liaison arrangements between
the ten trading standards authorities in the East of England.
The EETSA partnership consists of the
unitary authorities of:
Luton; Peterborough; Southend on Sea; Thurrock;
And the County Councils of:
Bedfordshire; Cambridgeshire; Essex; Hertfordshire; Norfolk
& Suffolk.
The work of the Trading Standards Service
covers a wide diversity of areas and is extremely varied.
The service has responsibility for over 80 Acts of Parliament
and over 1000 sets of Regulations and Orders, and as such,
is the major regulatory service of local government. Trading
Standards' activities include investigation of complaints,
sampling of goods, inspections and visits to give advice
to trade and industry as well as offering civil advice and
consumer education. In many cases the service deals with
issues that go beyond it's own local authority boundaries
to regional, national and international levels. Accordingly,
joint working and the strategic partnership approach developed
by EETSA have great benefits to all involved.
